3. Cameron Highlands Food – Misokimchi

Misokimchi

Misokimchi in Cameron Highlands is a restaurant that offers excellent customer service with warm smiles. The service crew is great, always explaining the food and how to cook it, and they speak English clearly. The place is basic, clean, and comfortable. The food is good, with a surprisingly delicious chicken parmigiana and mushroom soup.

One of the recommended dishes is the YinYang vegetarian steamboat, which is tasty and a great option for vegetarians. The pizza, pasta, and scones are also delicious, and the milk tea is very good, especially the caramel brown sugar that is made by their chef, and it’s not too sweet. The fruit tea is also aromatic and flavorful.

Although the prices are a bit higher for some items, it’s worth it, especially for the steamboat. The only downside is that the restaurant is a bit hard to find, as you have to walk through a small mall, but once you’re there, the experience is great.

If the dedication in the kitchen matches the service crew, it would have been a perfect comfort food place. However, the food lacked the “wow” factor and a little more passion is needed in the kitchen. Nonetheless, the Army pot was really enjoyable, and cooking it ourselves was a fun experience. Overall, Misokimchi is highly recommended to everyone looking for a great dining experience with excellent service and delicious food.

Hot Pot Time Restaurant

Hot Pot Time Restaurant is a must-visit in Cameron Highlands, especially if you love fresh vegetables. They have an amazing selection of veggies such as radish, sweet corn, Chinese cabbage, and watercress that are all freshly sourced. The pork is also great, as it was one of the best we’ve had.

Their soup bases are really tasty too. We tried the vegetable base and the pork bone broth, both were great, but can be a little salty for those who don’t like the taste. You don’t need a lot of dipping sauce with these soups. We tried the combo for two with some extra ingredients and the chicken soup, and all of it was delicious. We love the idea of self-cooking, and it was a really enjoyable experience.

The restaurant is always busy and has a welcoming atmosphere. Although it can be crowded, the environment is clean and tidy. The staff are all friendly and attentive, especially the owner’s wife who always takes care of the customers. We were lucky to get a table quickly, and the ice tea was also good.

We found that the prices were good value for money, considering the amount of food you get for the price.

Overall, we had a great experience at Hot Pot Time Restaurant and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Cameron Highlands.

The food is simply delicious, especially the grilled lamb shoulder that is cooked to perfection, and the boss breakfast combo that is a real treat. You won’t regret it. Boss Taste is also perfect for lunch and dinner, offering mouth-watering dishes like duck fried rice, green apple juice, and curry mee, which are all delicious and served in generous portions. The restaurant is bright, clean, and looks new, and the staff is friendly and helpful. They even warned me about my first order being too spicy, and recommended the curry mee instead, which was spot on.

Another highlight is their special prawn mee, which is the best dish on the menu, followed by the satay with a super good sauce that’s spicy and flavourful. The fried chicken is pretty good too, but the quality may vary depending on the supplier.

One of the recommended dishes is the set that has two kinds of meat – roasted chicken and lamb. The lamb is cooked really nice and soft, with a juicy and tasty flavor that will leave you wanting more. The chicken is alright, and the portions are generous, enough for 2-3 people. However, the sauce they serve to mix with the rice is refreshing but super spicy, so be careful!

The tomato sauce that comes with the food is usually more red, but that depends on the time of year and the availability of ripe tomatoes. Nonetheless, it is super yummy and complements the food well. If you’re in the mood for tea, they offer tea that is planted in the Cameron Highlands for free. Additionally, they have black tea with mint, which is something you might have missed from back home.

The Mandi rice is full of spices and smells so nice, and the Lamb Kabsah is out of this world! However, the Royal Arabian chicken can be a bit dry, so it may not be everyone’s favorite. The Lords Cafe

If you’re looking for an affordable cafe with a rustic charm, The Lord’s Cafe is a great option. Be prepared to wait in a long queue even before it opens, but the prices are worth it. At only about RM3.20 each, the scones are a hit, while the cheesecake is not bad. Unfortunately, the chicken pie is quite dry, and the apple pie’s filling is on the sour side, but the little star on top of the pie is a cute touch.

The coffee is strong and flavorful, and it’s made from Malaysian beans, which gives it a unique taste. It’s definitely different from the Starbucks next door, but that’s part of the charm. The cafe has a very Christian look and feel, which matches its name. The staff may not be too friendly, but they are attentive, and they’ll call out your table number when your food is ready.

Although the restaurant itself is quite simple, the views outside are lovely. You can watch the pine trees swaying in the cool breeze from the carpark opposite while enjoying your meal at the table beside the road.

The food here is generally tasty and reasonably priced. Some of the recommended dishes include the nasi biryani, tandoori chicken, chicken curry, paneer masala, and sweet and sour fish. However, one thing to note is that the paneer texture may not be what you’re used to, as it can feel almost like tofu.
