Sek Yuen Restaurant is a classic Chinese restaurant located conveniently close to the city. The food is still decent after many years, and while the pumpkin tofu was below average due to a little too much starch in the gravy, there are plenty of other dishes that make up for it.

Are you looking for a food adventure? You might want to try Kedai Kopi Lai Foong! Although you need to battle the traffic, find parking and sometimes wait for a table, the experience is worth it. You’ll feel like you’re in heaven once you’ve tasted their delicious beef noodles. The beef is as tender as your first love, and the soup is sinfully thick. If you’re counting calories, this might not be the best option for you.

If you’re not in the mood for beef noodles, you can try their lala soup or Hokkien noodle. The lala soup is absolutely delicious, fragrant, fresh, and comforting. The Hokkien noodle is rich and chewy. The prices are quite reasonable too.

One downside is that ordering might be a little bit challenging because they don’t have a menu with pictures, and their English is not that great. You might want to show them a picture of what you want. The seating might be limited, but you can always go to the next shop, which has the same menu and is much cooler.

Kedai Kopi Lai Foong 2

Although Kedai Kopi Lai Foong has been around for over 30 years, the service could be better with better organization during order taking. You might have to yell out your order to someone in the busy stall besides the busy street. The atmosphere could also be improved with better organization.

Overall, Kedai Kopi Lai Foong is a must-visit if you’re in the area. Just make sure you’re prepared to face the traffic and the heat, and be patient while waiting for your food.

Looking for a cozy and private dining experience while indulging in some perfectly cooked steak? Chambers Grill is the place for you. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with generous spacing between tables, making it easy to enjoy your companions and conversations. The lobster bisque is a must-try dish, especially if you like a touch of brandy in your soup.

Their menu offers a variety of sides that complement the steaks perfectly. The broccoli with garlic is a standout, and the potato cake and asparagus are also great choices. One of the recommended dishes is the Japanese wagyu, which is a bit pricey but worth every slice. If you’re in the mood for seafood, try the juicy scallops.

The steaks are cooked to perfection and are some of the best around. The tenderloin steak and sirloin steak are especially delicious, and the buffalo mozzarella is a great starter. While the spinach side dish could have been seasoned better, the overall dining experience is still beautiful.

Service is exceptional, with friendly and attentive staff who go above and beyond to ensure that you have a wonderful dining experience. Although the restaurant only serves bottled water, the extensive wine list offers a perfect pairing to complete your meal.

Overall, Chambers Grill is a great place to enjoy a delicious steak dinner with a relaxing ambiance and exceptional service. If you’re looking for an upscale dining experience, this is the perfect spot.

24. KL Food – Singh Chapati House

Singh Chapati House

Singh Chapati House is a must-visit place if you are a fan of authentic chapati. The hand-made chapati is slow-cooked over an iron griddle, which gives it a fluffy and flavorful texture. Even the plain lentil dhall served as an accompaniment is so delicious that it exceeds any expectations. The selection of curries, both vegetarian and meat-based, is just mouth-watering. The crew is so helpful that they suggest the best dishes according to your preferences.

The staff at Singh Chapati House are attentive, which enhances your dining experience. The Punjabi-styled Masalla tea is really well brewed, and it complements the meal perfectly. Although one of the customers felt that the taste of the food has changed, overall, it’s still a great dining experience. The butter chicken masala and garlic naan are particularly recommended.

The prices are reasonable, considering the quality of the food and the service provided. However, it’s worth noting that they only serve bottled water. If you’re looking for a place to have a good dinner, then Singh Chapati House is the perfect spot. They have a great selection of dishes, and the chapati and curries are quite authentic compared to other places. The slow-cooking process is what gives their dishes a unique flavour, and you can taste the difference in every bite.

In conclusion, if you’re in Kuala Lumpur, make sure to visit Singh Chapati House for an authentic dining experience. The staff is friendly, the prices are reasonable, and the food is delicious. 25. KL Food – Beta KL

Beta KL
Image via Beta KL

If you’re looking for a unique dining experience, Beta KL is the perfect place. The service is exceptional and the staff is knowledgeable about the dishes, explaining the traditions behind each one. The pacing of the meal was perfect and the portions were on the smaller side, so you might want to opt for the larger course meal if you’re feeling hungry. The lamb main course was a standout for me and I highly recommend it.

As one of the many fine dining options in town, Beta KL stands out with its fixed menu available in “large” and “medium”. This is a place for food lovers who are willing to let the chef guide them through their culinary journey. The accompanying cocktails are also worth trying as they provide a more varied experience than a set wine choice.

During my visit, I opted for the Beta menu which has less meat and was seated at the bar area for drinks and to decide on the available menus. The service was excellent and friendly, and I enjoyed all the food. The bread and desserts were also highlights of the meal.

The only downside is that the written and/or oral explanations of the dishes could be clearer. It can be tough to grasp the chef’s idea, but this seems to be a common issue among European high-class restaurants. Lastly, the food at Beta KL was worth capturing in photos and uploading to your Instagram!

All in all, if you’re looking for an exceptional culinary experience in Kuala Lumpur, Beta KL is definitely worth a visit.

26. KL Food – Irama Dining Kuala Lumpur

Irama Dining Kuala Lumpur

If you’re looking for a great place to gather with your friends and family, Irama Dining Kuala Lumpur is a fantastic option. The upstairs area provides more privacy and offers a great view of KL Tower from the roof. Lunchtime is usually easier to find parking. The portions are ideal for sharing, and if you have a sweet tooth, you will love their desserts. One thing to note, however, is that they use nuts in their sambal mix, so those with allergies may want to avoid it.

The food at Irama Dining is absolutely delicious, and it’s an excellent place to try traditional Malay cuisine with a modern twist. The food presentation is stunning, and the taste is very good. If you’re unsure what to order, I recommend trying their sambal kerang and pulut kuning. Also, their assortment of kerabu or traditional salad is very fresh and has a great explosion of flavours. The portion sizes are generous, so make sure you come hungry or with a group.

Irama Dining also offers a large selection of quirky and tasty drinks, so you can enjoy a great dining experience with a unique and exciting twist. The wait staff is attentive and helpful, and the owners and managers are friendly and welcoming. The venue is classy and beautiful, and the top floor provides an amazing view of KL Tower. While parking is easier to find during lunchtime, they do offer valet service on-site for a fee.

However, a few items received mixed reviews. One customer commented that the pumpkin used in the masak lemak was not fresh and tasted a bit off, and another mentioned that the bubur som2 was not as smooth as they had tasted at other places. Overall, Irama Dining is a great place for those looking for an excellent dining experience with traditional Malay dishes and modern twists.

BAAN26 Thai Seafood Restaurant Bar
Image via BAAN26 Thai Seafood Restaurant Bar

Baan26 Thai Seafood Restaurant & Bar is a great place to hang out with colleagues or friends while enjoying Thai food and drinks. The food is amazing and fresh, making it a perfect place for a satisfying meal. The Tom Yum seafood soup is well-balanced with just the right amount of heat and sourness, while the prawns are succulent and fresh. The Thai Chicken Green curry is creamy and the chicken pieces are tender. Mango with crispy catfish salad is a must-try, as it is not too sour and the catfish is crispy and delicious.

The Rainbow Rice is also good, served with condiments and chicken, while the Chiang Mai Fried Noodle has generous amounts of prawns. The Tom Yum seafood is spicy and flavorful, and the Butter Prawn is fresh and tasty. However, the omelette is only so-so and the Thai milk tea is a bit diluted and lacking in oomph.

The service is amazing, with attentive and friendly staff who ensure that the food is served in a timely manner. The staff is also very helpful, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. The parking is plentiful in the parking lot, making it easy to find a spot.

One of the recommended dishes is the Thai Herb Fish with lemongrass, which is out of this world. The Spicy Red Tom Yum is also one of the best Tom Yum soups ever tasted, and the mango sticky rice is also good. Baan26 Thai Seafood Restaurant & Bar is definitely worth the price, and it is a great place to come and try authentic Thai food without hesitation.

Overall, Baan26 Thai Seafood Restaurant & Bar offers above-average Thai food with a diverse menu and generous servings. The Rainbow Rice, Chiang Mai Fried Noodle, Tom Yum Seafood, and Butter Prawn are all worth trying. The service is excellent, and the staff are attentive and friendly. Iketeru 1

Welcome to Iketeru, a restaurant that will definitely meet your expectation of freshness and delicate taste of Japanese cuisine. As you step into the private room where we had dinner, you’ll immediately notice the nice ambience with sliding doors, tatami mat and taking off your shoes before entering.

The food here is impressive with the sashimi being very fresh and good on its own without the need for additional sauce. The seared sea bream has a fresh taste of the ocean, and the octopus is firm yet not tough at all. One of the recommended dishes is the prawn with creamy sauce that goes with it, leaving a delightful taste in your mouth.

Now, let’s talk about dessert! The matcha green tea cake is moist and not overly sweet, with just the right amount of matcha-ness from green tea. The yuzu ice cream is also refreshing with a citrus flavour that shines through. If you have a sweet tooth, this will definitely be your favourite part of the meal.

Apart from the food, the private room we dined in was delightful, with a nice ambience that’s perfect for an intimate dinner.

Although the food might not be considered “over the top,” the interior, setting and restaurant are certainly pretty and super clean. Overall, it was a wonderful experience to enjoy a nice, traditional Japanese course dinner in such a beautiful setting.

Wong Ah Wah Restaurant is a well-known food spot along Jalan Alor, attracting a consistent crowd even on rainy evenings. The food selection is diverse, with notable dishes such as grilled chicken wings, grilled stingray fish, fried dried shrimps with pork Fallopian tubes, La La, and boiled cockles. You have the option to dine in either an alfresco or air-conditioned room, and the lively atmosphere and delectable dishes make Wong Ah Wah an ideal spot to bring your overseas friends and impress them with the sights and sounds of Jalan Alor.

Even though the satay standards have decreased, the chicken wings still remain excellent. The vegetables were cooked perfectly, and the squid was juicy and delicious. The reasonable prices and fantastic quality of basic dishes indicate that most meals would be up to par.

However, the staff services need to improve to accommodate the crowd. Despite this, many others enjoy dining at Wong Ah Wah for its delicious food, lively atmosphere, and consistent quality.
