If you’re looking for a fine dining experience in the heart of Georgetown, Halab Penang is definitely worth a visit. This halal restaurant in Penang offers a modern atmosphere with high ceilings, air conditioning, and clean facilities. The service is friendly and the atmosphere is exquisite, making for a memorable dining experience.

The variety of authentic Syrian and Middle Eastern dishes is great and there are plenty of options to choose from. The lamb dishes in particular are outstanding, with a great harmony between the fat and meat that will leave your taste buds satisfied.

The appetizers are also worth trying, with the hummus being a personal favorite. The bread is great for dipping and the hummus itself is flavorful and well-balanced.

While some dishes may have fallen short in terms of texture, such as the dry chicken and overcooked prawns, the taste is still great. The desserts are also hit or miss, with the Oreo cheese dessert being a bit heavy on the cream and cheese, but still enjoyable for those who love cheese. The banana split is a more typical dessert, but still a satisfying end to your meal.

Overall, Halab Penang offers a great dining experience with impressive food and a lovely atmosphere. While there may have been some miscommunications with the staff, the service is still adequate and the food is definitely worth the wait. So if you’re in the mood for some halal fine dining, Halab Penang is a great option to consider.

Looking for a delicious biryani experience? Look no further than Bhai Biryani Penang. Their fried chicken biryani is a standout dish, with thick masala that adds just the right amount of spiciness to the flavorful rice. One of the highlights of Bhai Biryani Penang is their madras tea, which is so good that you might want to order two cups at once. Another tasty option is the mango lassi, which perfectly complements the spicy flavours of the biryani.

Located in Little India, Bhai Biryani Penang can be a bit tricky to find parking during peak hours. However, the hassle is worth it for the delicious food and cozy atmosphere. If you’re looking for halal Indian food in Penang, give Bhai Biryani Penang a try.

Laksalicious

Looking for a comfortable and air-conditioned restaurant to satisfy your laksa cravings? Look no further than Laksalicious in Penang!

The laksa varieties are generally nice, but you may find yourself wishing for more ingredients in the gravy, such as cut onions, ginger, pineapple, fish cakes and shallots. Despite this, the food is presented well and is absolutely delicious.

One of the must-try dishes is the asam laksa in Nyonya style. You even get to choose the type of noodle you prefer! The prawn crackers served with the asam laksa are crispy and tasty, with a hint of spiciness and sourness.

The cendol here is a real treat, as it is served with gula Melaka and coconut milk. It’s even tastier than some of the more famous cendol places in Penang!

The desserts and drinks are also worth mentioning. They are clean, not too heavy, and not overly sweet or syrupy. The friendly staff are always ready to make suggestions and are honest with their recommendations.

The price is slightly above average, but still reasonable for the quality and experience you get. Overall, we highly recommend Laksalicious for a satisfying laksa meal in a comfortable setting.

If you’re looking for delicious, home-style halal Nyonya food in Penang, then Ivy’s Nyonya Cuisine is the place to be.

The owner of the restaurant goes above and beyond to provide exceptional service and recommendations to guests, making the dining experience truly unforgettable. The ngor hiang fried spring rolls and black soy sauce chicken are some of the must-try dishes.

The restaurant is popular and can get quite busy, so it’s recommended to make reservations in advance or come early for lunch or dinner to ensure you get a table. The set menu is a great way to sample a variety of dishes, including the mix vegetables and prawn asam, which are particularly tasty.

The braised chicken with soy sauce is a good option for those looking for something other than coconut curry mix, although the Kapitaw chicken is also worth trying.

One of the standout dishes at Ivy’s Nyonya Cuisine is the steamed fish, which is highly recommended by previous diners. The food is cooked to perfection and bursting with flavour. The lemon juice is also a refreshing accompaniment to the meal and is perfect for quenching your thirst.

Overall, Ivy’s Nyonya Cuisine offers an outstanding dining experience with friendly staff, delicious food, and a cozy, homely atmosphere. If you’re in the mood for authentic halal Nyonya cuisine, this is definitely a restaurant to add to your list.

If you’re looking for a halal restaurant in Penang to enjoy some delicious local food, you should definitely visit Nasi Lemak Liverpool Cafe Penang. It has a lovely outdoor seating area that provides a breezy atmosphere to enjoy your meal. The best part? The food is outstanding!

One of the must-try dishes here is the creamy and tasty Nasi Lemak. It’s made to your liking and portion size, so you can enjoy it exactly how you want it. However, be warned that it may be slightly spicy for some people.

Apart from the nasi lemak, you can also try the delicious satay that’s chunky, filled with santan, and barbecued to perfection. The mee goreng is also a must-try, slightly spicy but aromatic and flavorful. Other yummy dishes include the french fries, chicken nuggets, and mee jawa.

Restoran Nasi Kandar Line Clear

Restoran Nasi Kandar Line Clear is a must-visit halal eatery in Penang. The food is fresh and delicious, especially if you arrive early for lunch. The curries served over rice are simple yet addictive, leaving you wanting more. The restaurant is also very clean, adding to the dining experience.

Despite the popularity of the restaurant, the queue can be manageable if you visit at the right time. During peak hours, the line can be quite long, so it is recommended to come early. One of the recommended dishes is the fried chicken, which is freshly fried and flavorful.

The restaurant has been serving awesome food since 1930. The curry fish head is a must-try and is incredibly fresh. The mutton served is tender and melts in your mouth, making it another highly recommended dish.

Overall, Restoran Nasi Kandar Line Clear is an excellent place to visit if you want to try some authentic Malaysian cuisine. The food is delicious, the restaurant is clean, and the service is great. However, be prepared for long queues during peak hours, and parking can be a bit of an issue.

9. Halal Food in Penang – The BRGR @ Georgetown [Review]

The BRGR Georgetown Penang
Image via The BRGR Georgetown Penang

The BRGR in Georgetown Penang is a great spot to enjoy a nice burger and some tasty sides. You and your loved ones can chill out and relax here, as the place is small but comfortable.

They have a variety of burgers to choose from, and the beef patty is said to be juicy and flavorful, especially for those who love the taste of beef. One of the recommended dishes is the Australian beef burger, which is uniquely tasty and highly enjoyable.

Although the staff are friendly and nice, it is recommended not to bring a large number of families as the dining area is less spacious.

Another downside is that they only serve sugared soft drinks and cola, and do not offer drinking water or sugar-free options.

Overall, The BRGR is a decent halal burger joint in Georgetown Penang with tasty burgers, but some of the sides and other dishes may not be up to par. If you are a fan of beef and its unique flavours, it is worth a try. However, if you are looking for a wider range of drinks and sides, you may want to consider other options.

Address: 85, Jalan Nagor, 10050 George Town, Pulau Pinang

10. Halal Food in Penang – Vegan Falafel Penang [Review]

Vegan Falafel penang
Image via Vegan Falafel penang

If you’re looking for a place to chill and enjoy some delicious halal vegetarian Middle Eastern food, Vegan Falafel in Penang is definitely worth checking out.

The falafel is authentic and absolutely scrumptious, with a variety of sides that complement it perfectly – the stuffed grape leaves are particularly fantastic. And at such reasonable prices, you really can’t go wrong.

The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the reggae vibes make for a great atmosphere. The restaurant area is separate from the bar, so you can enjoy your falafel wrap and drink in peace.

And speaking of the wrap – the Bazooka falafel wrap is a must-try, made with love and completely vegetarian and vegan. The menu is quite varied, so there’s something for everyone.

As someone who has tried falafel all over the world, I can confidently say that this is one of the best I’ve ever had. The ingredients are incredibly fresh, and all the sauces and pickles are made in-house. I was so excited to try everything that I forgot to take a picture before diving in.

Address: 12, Chulia St, Georgetown, 10200 George Town, Penang

11. Halal Food in Penang – NS Nasi Kandar [Review]

NS Nasi Kandar
Image via NS Nasi Kandar

If you’re a foodie looking for the best nasi kandar in town, NS Nasi Kandar should definitely be on your list. Their ayam goreng is a must-try, it’s the best in town, and the selection of curry is fantastic.

However, they have fewer options for fried vegetables, such as peria goreng, which is a personal favourite. They also serve decent breakfast options. I visited this place for the first time and found it to be delicious, the spicy chicken had flavour, and the workers were quick. The only downside is that parking is very difficult to find a space.

NS Nasi Kandar is one of the few shops that have maintained the uniqueness and exquisite taste of Nasi Kandar to this very day. Every dish is authentic, and the ayam ros is top tier for many customers.

Even the udang and sotong are priced at an affordable price, so it’s an excellent option for those on a budget. Although the prices have gone up, no one can avoid inflation, so it’s okay. This shop is always packed with people, and most of them are from Penang. It’s like a secret gem that only locals know about.

When I went to take away for dinner, there was a queue, but the serving and packing restaurant staff were fast into taking the order request and packing. The food portion is generous, and I recommend the rice with mixed curry, fried chicken, and stir-fried cabbage with salted egg.

The price is reasonable and worth it for a nasi kandar indulgence. One of the side notes is that if you’re packing your food, please ask for extra curry, either added to the rice pack or separate, whichever fits your fancy.

However, the downside of this restaurant is that there is no parking space available as the shop is located on the main road.

Moreover, it’s not suitable for wheelchair users and senior citizens due to the long walk and tight space in the shop. Despite that, NS Nasi Kandar is a must-try for food lovers who want to taste the best of Penang’s local cuisine.

Address: 142, Jalan Burma, 10400 George Town, Pulau Pinang

12. Halal Food in Penang – Mollie Dessert House and Asam Laksa [Review]

Mollie Dessert House and Asam Laksa

Mollie Dessert House and Asam Laksa in Penang is a must-visit halal restaurant for foodies. You will be delighted by the tasty food and the friendly owners.

If you are craving for noodles, you must try their laksa. It is a speciality here and packed with deliciousness. You could even taste their special fish ball specially made for laksa only, which is not found anywhere else.

The food at Mollie Dessert House is affordable, and the portions are generous. You might even worry if the owners have earned enough! But rest assured, the owners are lovely people, and you will feel welcome here.

One of the recommended dishes is the fruit dessert with ice cream. You will experience magic in your mouth with explosions of flavour. The desserts are made by the lady to her own design, and they are not to be missed.

The owners at Mollie Dessert House are not only friendly, but they are also attentive to customers’ needs. For instance, when a customer asked for sugar to be separated from the ais kacang, they provided four types of syrup for them. The owners go above and beyond to ensure their customers are satisfied.

The atmosphere at Mollie Dessert House is cozy and comfortable. You will feel at ease while enjoying your meal or dessert. It is perfect for a casual catch-up with friends or a solo food adventure.

In conclusion, if you are looking for a tasty and affordable meal or dessert, Mollie Dessert House and Asam Laksa is the place to go. Don’t miss out on their laksa, special fish balls, and fruit dessert with ice cream. The friendly owners and cozy atmosphere will make you feel welcomed and satisfied.

13. Halal Food in Penang – Annalakshmi Penang [Review]

Annalakshmi Penang
Image via Annalakshmi Penang

Annalakshmi Penang is a welcoming, family-style restaurant that serves 100% plant-based food. You’ll be kindly informed of which dishes contain no ghee, milk, or paneer.

The food is rich in flavour and contains many healthy herbs and spices, with a well-balanced level of spiciness. If you’re sensitive to salt, try out small portions of each dish to compare, as some can be saltier than others.

The atmosphere is peaceful with nice decorations and calming background music, creating a relaxing ambiance. The staff will greet you with plenty of smiles and provide you with any help or information you need. Dining barefoot is an interesting experience since the restaurant is located next to a temple.

One reviewer found the food a bit too salty for their taste, but still delicious. The staff accommodated their request for vegan dishes and made chapatis without ghee. The restaurant serves food that will suit most vegetarians, and the staff are kind, polite, and serve with love. The atmosphere is relaxing and peaceful.

Overall, Annalakshmi Penang is an excellent choice for those seeking plant-based food that’s rich in flavour and healthy herbs and spices.

Address: 1, Lebuhraya Babington, 10450 George Town, Pulau Pinang

14. Muslim-friendly Food in Penang – Salsas Penang [Review]

Salsas Penang
Image via Salsas Penang

Salsas Penang is a pork-free restaurant that is praised for its great service and food. If you’re looking for delicious seafood dishes, you might want to try their salmon and scampi. The salmon is cooked perfectly, with crispy skin, and the scampi is a large tiger prawn that is well-prepared.

Their starters such as octopus and escargots are also recommended. One of the must-try dishes is their Seafood Omakase, specially crafted by Chef David.

The portion for two persons is great, and you’ll be able to taste many different seafood dishes such as a fresh seafood salad, smooth and creamy lasagne with spinach and grilled fresh halibut, freshly made squid ink pasta with mussels, and tasteful unagi bruschetta. Pair it with their well-priced white wine for a perfect meal.

The drinks are also well-priced, but some customers have noted that the beer is expensive and not worth it. Additionally, the restaurant’s interior decoration is quite dated, which may have deterred some customers from walking in over the years.

Despite this, Salsas Penang is still considered the best Western restaurant in Penang by many, with customers raving about the Wellington beef. If you’re in Penang and looking for delicious seafood dishes and great service, Salsas Penang is definitely worth a visit. The friendly crew and chef will make sure that you’ll want to come back again and again.

Address: Hotel Continental, 5, Jln Penang, George Town, 10000 George Town, Pulau Pinang

15. Muslim-friendly Food in Penang – The Black Market Penang [Review]

The Black Market Penang
Image via The Black Market Penang

The Black Market Penang is a cozy cafe that offers a pleasant dining experience. The owner of the cafe takes the time to speak to you and recommend dishes based on your preferences.

The food here is flavorful and not overly seasoned, making it delicious overall. One of the recommended dishes is the pepper corn gravy chicken, which is a new taste that you will enjoy and want to come back for more.

The food is excellent, and the portion sizes are adequate. Although the prices are a bit on the expensive side, most cafes in this part of town have similar pricing. The waiting time is not too slow, and the service is good with friendly waiters.

The environment is clean and cozy, and the washroom is also clean and dry without any smell. The cafe only accepts cash and e-wallet payments, and the parking is limited with only space for two cars in front of the shop.

The dishes here are a real treat, and you will definitely love the unique flavours compared to other cafes in Penang. It’s a great place to hang out with friends and family, and you can even build your dish.

The pricing is reasonable, making it a must-try cafe when you visit Penang. Remember, happy belly, happy life, so be sure to check out The Black Market Penang.

From the hospitable hosts, especially Christine, to the beautiful presentation of the dishes, this restaurant will leave you with the best impressions.

Although the service can be a little lacking due to the limited staff, overall, you’ll still enjoy your dining experience. The food is surprisingly delicious, and every dish that we ordered was emptied. You’ll definitely get your money’s worth here.

The ambience is also nice, and the beautiful view from the top is something you won’t forget. If you go before sunset, you’ll have a better chance to appreciate the view because it can get quite dark later on.

The staff at TopView Restaurant & Lounge are also accommodating and helpful. They even provide assistance for those who need it, like the elderly. However, it’s not so wheelchair-friendly, as there are a few stairs before reaching the escalator.

Although there’s no kids menu, there’s a baby chair available. The parking is at level 6, so you don’t have to worry about parking when you get there.

The only downside is that the chicken can be too dry, and the portions are quite small, considering the price. However, the lamb is not so bad.

Orinea by Farquhar Mansion

Orinea by Farquhar Mansion offers an unforgettable dining experience. If you’re looking for a fine dining venue to celebrate a special occasion, this place is definitely worth considering. With excellent service and a beautiful atmosphere, it’s easy to see why this place has received so many positive reviews.

Their 8-dish journey is a popular choice and it comes with wine and mocktail pairings. The island cod and lamb loins are two of the standout dishes that are definitely worth trying. While the prices are on the higher end, they are still within the expected range for fine dining, and the quality of the food and experience make it worth it.

If you choose to dine outside, you’ll be rewarded with a stunning view of the stars and city lights. The outdoor dress code is more relaxed, but you’ll need to dress up a bit more if you decide to eat inside. The dishes are well-timed, well-balanced, and come in easily bite-sized portions, allowing you to appreciate each dish fully.

During our visit, we had a lovely afternoon tea overlooking the sea. The savouries were outstanding, and the pastries and scones were delicious. Although they don’t serve clotted cream for the scone, it was still enjoyable with its almond and cranberry flavours.

We were surprised by the complimentary truffle bomb chocolate that we received, which was a nice touch. The staff were attentive and always ready to refill our tea and assist with our chairs.

Overall, we highly recommend Orinea by Farquhar Mansion for a memorable and enjoyable fine dining experience. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just looking to treat yourself to an excellent meal, this pork-free restaurant won’t disappoint.

Nazzeeras Roti Bakar Kacang Phool Penang
Image via Nazzeeras Roti Bakar Kacang Phool Penang

Nazzeeras’ Roti Bakar Kacang Phool is a hidden gem in Penang that you should try. The thick and filling toast with garlic, butter, and cheese, topped with beef chili, tastes surprisingly good. The price is fair, and the portion is just right. Moreover, parking is not an issue, so you can easily stop by and try it out.

The Nescafé tarik Kurang manis is highly recommended, as it is well-made and satisfying. The owner takes great care in choosing the ingredients, and almost everything is homemade, ensuring high-quality food.

The Kacang Phool, which is a bowl of healthy protein with just the right amount of carb on the side, is a perfect meal, and it is highly recommended.

The Kacang Phool is similar to American chili, but with bright Indian flavours, creamy fava beans instead of kidney beans, and a beautifully cooked sunny-side-up egg on top. Stir it all up and dunk chunks of the perfectly grilled bread right in. The bread is freshly made and does not have any added sugar.
